KBMED Advances NRFit® Solutions As ISO 80369 Standards Continue Global Adoption

Recently, KBMED’s NRFit product package has entered sample evaluation and testing with partners in Northern Ireland. Following successful assessments, large-volume procurement is expected to begin in the near future, reflecting increasing market readiness for next-generation non-interconnectable connector systems.

ISO 80369: Driving Safer Medical Connections

The ISO 80369 series was developed by the International Organization for Standardization to address one of the most critical patient-safety risks in healthcare: medical device misconnection.

By assigning unique, non-interconnectable connector designs to specific clinical applications, the standard significantly reduces the risk of wrong-route delivery.

Each part of ISO 80369 corresponds to a defined medical use, ensuring that connectors from different systems cannot be mistakenly joined.

NRFit® and KBMED’s Small-Bore Strategy

🔹ISO 80369-6 (NRFit®) is specifically designed for neuraxial and regional anesthesia applications, including spinal and epidural procedures.

🔹The NRFit system replaces legacy connectors that historically carried misconnection risks, offering enhanced safety through physical incompatibility and clear visual identification.

Building on KBMED’s successful implementation of ISO 80369-3 (Enteral / ENFit) solutions, the NRFit product line represents the next strategic focus in our small-bore portfolio, supporting safer anesthesia and pain-management practices worldwide. In parallel, ISO 80369-2 (released in 2024) continues to standardize connectors used in respiratory and anesthesia breathing systems, further strengthening patient safety across critical care environments.
